Bike Guide Training in Kosovo of the Project "Extension of ViP DinaricA in the CBC Region Albania-Kosovo"

During the period from 25th to 27th September 2018, with a starting point from Gjakove Municipality, the bike training for guiding in mountain biking was organized under the project Extension of ViP DinaricA in the CBC Region Albania – Kosovo which was held at the La Villa Hotel in Gjakova. This training comprised a three-day module in the field of mountain biking and first aid, as well as riding bikes in the parts of DinaricA in the CBC Region Albania – Kosovo trail which is defined by this project.

IThe bike guide training, was provided for candidates to acquire specific knowledge about biking and biking culture. Also, to learn techniques and rules of riding, as well as to get familiar with tourism mountain biking. Function parts of bicycle were presented both theoretically and practically, trained to distinguish between parts and functions of the bicycle. In addition, candidates were able to recognize potential failures on bicycle and learn how to repair them and service bicycle on practice example. First aid lectures were provided within the training. First aid program was intended for all tourist biking guides, offering them basic knowledge in this field, in order to reduce side effects at the workplace and provide timely assistance for injured persons. With the aim of promotion of tourist offer and getting familiar with mountain biking trail which is defined by the project, on Wednesday, 26th September, mountain biking tour at one part of ViP Dinarica trail was organized.

The training participants were 10 bike guides from Albania and 10 from Kosovo (total of 20 participants), those who have interest to guide bike tours in the area of ViP Dinarica trails. The participants included: mountaineering, biking clubs and travel agencies that have an interest of guiding biking groups in the area of Via Dinarica trails. At the end of the training, the training participants received a Certificate for Mountain Bike Guides, according to the Rulebook of the Mountaineering Association of Montenegro.
